Edmond shelter dog wins 5K 'Ghost run'

Chelsea

EDMOND — A dog at the city's animal shelter won her category in a recent fundraiser event.

Chelsea, a loving Labrador, and Stephanie Coldiron competed in the recent Ghost Runners 5K dog run in Oklahoma City and won first place in Coldiron’s age division.

Participants were encouraged to bring their dogs to the event and were allowed to complete the entire run with them as long as the dogs were leashed and runner-friendly.

Chelsea is a spayed female, black Labrador retriever and boxer who has been available at Edmond’s animal shelter since June 25, 2010. To date, she has been in the shelter longer than any other dog accepted by the shelter.

Help by FOSTERING a shelter pet.

If you'd be interested in fostering, please contact the Edmond Animal Shelter at 216-7615. Click Here to download the application. Lots of pets just need a home environment, a little training and attention in order to be great pets. The shelter staff and Paws for Life volunteers will help you learn more about training or retraining. Working with the dogs before they are adopted is a great step in the direction of success!
