Update: Adopted!

Young male dog, McDuff, needs a furever home!

Hi All -
My name is McDuff and I am looking for my furever home. I am about 8 months old. I was rescued from a kill shelter and brought to my foster mom almost two months ago. After arriving it was found that I had Parvo, YUCK!, but blessedly it was found in time, treated, and I survived. I am doing great! I weigh about 25 pounds, am neutered and current on my shots. I am heartworm negative, but have not been started on a preventative. I don’t think I will get much bigger than I am, but my foster mom is not totally sure. I won’t be huge though. I am part terrier and because I have webbed feet, it is thought that I probably have some lab in me, which is probably why I do great with baths! I currently live in a home with 3 cats, two girls and one boy. I do well with them. The boy kitty really likes me and will play chase with me. The girls are not so hot on me, but put up with me. I love being with other dogs and would prefer a home where I have at least one playmate. I do not like being alone. I would probably do best in a home with older children or just adults, as I am little mouthy, but I am working on controlling that. I am house trained. I have not had any accidents in several weeks. My foster mom is great about letting me out quite a bit as she works close to my home.

I am still a bit scared at being outside by myself, but if I have a home with a playmate that can be outside with me I will be just fine. I am a bit of scaredy cat with strange things and noises I am not familiar with, but I am getting better. I know how to sit and lay down, but I do need some more training as my mom has been a little lax with me and I have gotten into a couple of things I shouldn’t have. I am very smart though and with some work I will be a wonderful addition to your family!! My foster mom is really hoping to get me to a permanent home as she works a lot and feels I am not getting all that I deserve. She loves me so much! I come with a doggie bed and lots of toys. I do well in the car. I can’t think of much more to tell you other than I am hoping you can be the furever home that I am looking for. I look forward to meeting you!
Lots of Wags!!

Help by FOSTERING a shelter pet.

If you'd be interested in fostering, please contact the Edmond Animal Shelter at 216-7615. Lots of pets just need a home environment, a little training and attention in order to be great pets. The shelter staff and Paws for Life volunteers will help you learn more about training or retraining. Working with the dogs before they are adopted is a great step in the direction of success!
