Remember sweet Hooch, the 9 year old dog who was up for adoption for six months?

Well, read this heartwarming update.........

Dear Mr. Fish,
I've been meaning to send you a note for some time now. My family adopted "Hooch" from your shelter back in September of 2008, and I've been meaning to write you a thank you note ever since! I understand he had been at the shelter and in a foster home for six months before we adopted him, and I want to thank you so much for seeing that beautiful and special quality in Hooch (and all the other shelter dogs as well) and for NOT putting him down. Our family absolutely adores Hooch and he makes me melt every time I see how happy he is just to be a part of a family. He sleeps in my son's bed every night and stays at my feet during the day. Hooch is one of the most good-natured and laid-back sweet dogs I've ever known. I keep hoping our other 2 dogs will pick up on Hooch's good behavior! I wanted to send this family photo with Hooch taken recently, and most importantly, to thank you so very much for not allowing Hooch to become a sad shelter statistic.

Animal Welfare Successful Adoption Story!

Dear Edmond Life TV and Edmond Animal Welfare,

Last August I came into the shelter looking for a dog and had no idea what a great pet and best friend I was about to get! I had recently moved from an apartment to a house with a large backyard and knew I wanted a new dog to complete my home. When I entered the City of Edmond Animal Welfare building I was greeted by friendly staff that made me feel welcome to come in a look around. As we entered the kennel area and looked around, it was a barking coming from the vary last kennel on the far side that caught our attention. He was a young energetic chocolate lab crying and barking and it was as if he were telling me, "i want to go home with you". We took the lab into the meet area at the front and knew within seconds that he was the dog for us!! And he certainly was!! Now named Ace our young chocolate lab has turned into a beautiful happy dog! He sleeps in a warm bed and enjoys playing fetch in his backyard. Ace also loves the water and enjoys trips to the lake where he will swim and swim until we make him come out, which I might add is a pretty tough task! Ace also loves his daily car rides where he will stick his head out the window and just enjoy the ride! I had no idea what a wonderful dog I was getting! He is truly my best friend and a loving member of our family. I want to thank Edmond Animal Welfare for the wonderful dog that they have given us!

Sincerely,
Michelle M.
