Canine Behavior Problems

Home companions, our dogs, are always brought into our lives with the best intentions. Sometimes problems evolve that the human side of the equation are at a loss with which to deal. Any time there is a change in behavior in your dog take them to the veterinarian and discuss with them what the possible causes could be. Always rule out a physical reason for a problem behavior.

Some unwanted behaviors can be caused by boredom, stress or because the dog misunderstands the rules. You really can teach an old dog (and humans) new tricks so it is never too late to get help. If there is no physical reason for the behavior then seek help.

We are fortunate to have a local author who has agreed to take phone calls for help with canine behavior. Kathy Diamond Davis is the author of Therapy Dogs: Training Your Dog to Reach Others and Responsible Dog Ownership, and is a contributor to a number of dog magazines, including Off Lead and Dog Fancy.

Kathy can be reached at 405-947-5413.
She answers many questions on her Canine Behavior Series web site.
